Martina Navratilova (1956-) is a Czech-American former professional tennis player who dominated women’s tennis in the late 1970s and the ’80s.

She is widely considered among the greatest tennis players of all time, having won 59 Grand Slam titles - a record for the most Grand Slam titles won by a single player. She was world No. 1 for 332 weeks in singles, and a record 237 weeks in doubles, making her the only player in history to have held the top spot in both singles and doubles for over 200 weeks.

Navratilova is also one of the first openly gay sports stars. She has been advocating for equal rights and supporting LGBTQ+ charities throughout her career and retirement.
