  • What new ideas, challenges, or other issues have you encountered with regard to your project (this might include data collection, information that contradicts your assumptions or the assertions of others, materials that have enriched your understanding of the topic or led you to change your project, etc.)? How have these ideas or challenges shaped the bigger picture of your research? Has the scope or focus of your topic changed since you began this project? If so, how?

One thing which has really challenged me throughout the course of this project was expanding my approach to data analysis. In preparation for this research, I began to study how to do data visualization. However, I've found that the majority of my time working on this has actually been spent on statistical analysis and not data visualization, as I had originally anticipated. I think this has actually been very useful because of the additional rigor that it has introduced and as well as the opportunity for a more complete picture --- such as the possibility of adding control variables in a logistic regression, which you can't quite do in a bar graph (at least as far as I know!).

  • Where does your research take place--or where is a favorite place to conduct your research? Post a photo!

My favorite place to conduct research is the NYPL! I am currently there right now as I write this post! Here is a picture of the magnificent reading room I am in (credits EverGreene).
