The project is coming to an end, with the final write up of the research paper happening. During this week, it was important to conclude the overall findings of the project and sum it up with my findings.

In the final weeks, it was important to think about all the research and the findings to produce a conclusion with recommendations to be put forward. Some of the recommendations had to be discussed with my supervisor, Steph, to ensure they were realistic and could help.

The process of doing the research was much larger than I had thought or imagined before taking on the project and becoming a Laidlaw Scholar. The idea of research I had at the start was going into the project and answering the question and finding the answer, meaning having a big win. However, now that I have gone through the process, I understand that researchers work together in a team and go over each other work to provide questions which can be branched off to better understand a topic, such as a sense of belonging is important to be considered at university to give students better wellbeing to succeed. Each research and the recommendations that come from them help better to provide better understanding to start making a change that has a bigger impact.

It has been rewarding to conclude the research findings and provide the University of Leeds with recommendations for changing current policies and procedures for welcome, induction, and transition week. My overall results will be in my research report and poster on the network very soon!

Knowing this was going to be the final week was bittersweet to finish the project, but I will miss being part of a research project. The project was very different from my degree, and at the beginning, I was sceptical, but I found a new passion in educational studies and how this can have a huge impact on a student's experience, which can affect their classification. In the future, if I would like to continue to work on similar research projects like this one to continue to implement change.
