As the year comes to an end, we at the Laidlaw Foundation want to thank you for your support and wish you all the best in the new year. Happy holidays!
In 2022, we had the joy of welcoming new universities, businesses, and schools to our programmes.
Laidlaw Scholars Leadership & Research Programme
We were thrilled that Brown University, EPFL (The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne), and the University of Cambridge colleges (Newnham, Murray Edwards, Trinity Hall, and Fitzwilliam) all joined the Laidlaw Scholars Leadership and Research programme this year.
The programme, designed to create a new generation of leaders who are ambitious, bold, curious and believe that it is imperative to lead with integrity, is now at 17 world-leading institutions. Next year, we plan to expand further into continental Europe.
Women in Business Laidlaw Scholarships & Laidlaw Pathways for Women in Business at Trinity College Dublin
Our first Women in Business Scholars at both London Business School (LBS) and Oxford’s Saïd Business School graduated this summer. So impressed with their brilliance and commitment to paying it forward, we renewed our gift agreement with LBS for another three years and expanded the programme at Saïd.
At Trinity College Dublin, we welcomed the first cohort of Trinity Access Women in Business Scholars.
Laidlaw Scholars Ventures
Laidlaw Scholars Ventures added four companies to its portfolio: Sable, Cardiatec, Sool and ProMotion. Each is founded, or co-founded, by an extraordinary Laidlaw Scholar. All the profits from the fund will be used to support Laidlaw programmes.
Laidlaw Schools Trust
The wonderful Sedgefield Hardwick Primary joined the Laidlaw Schools Trust (LST). An outstanding school, its pupils go on to LST’s neighbouring brilliant Sedgefield Community College, which was also judged by Ofsted to be outstanding again this year. This is another step in our journey to provide cradle to careers inspirational education in all the communities we support.
In Sunderland, Academy 360 received a good Ofsted rating - its best-ever grade and a milestone for the local community.
These are just some of the highlights of an eventful year. Thank you for all your support and your commitment to our programmes. We look forward to working with you and our wonderful community of scholars, academics, pupils, educationalists and entrepreneurs next year as we continue to develop a new generation of kind, open, happy, global citizens and ethical leaders.
In the meantime, we wish you a wonderful festive season and a healthy, joyous and rewarding 2023.
With very best wishes,
—Susanna, Alex, Niall, and Nikol
