Hello everyone!

My name is Dan Nguyen (he/him) and I an currently a junior at Tufts University studying biology and community health, planning to pursue an MD/MPH upon graduation. This past summer, I had the honor of working in the Molecular Helminthology Laboratory at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine studying schistosomiasis, a neglected tropical disease contracted from direct contact with water contaminated with schistosomes, the parasitic worms that cause the disease.

I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to Dr. Patrick Skelly and Dr. Akram Da'Darah for being incredible mentors and helping me in making this research project come to fruition. I also want to thank Roshni Gondane and Catherine Nation for their unconditional support and wisdom. Lastly, I want to thank the Laidlaw Foundation and the Tufts-Laidlaw team for supporting and funding this project! Here's to more research in infectious disease.
