Halfway through 6 weeks, is that 3 weeks from the beginning or 3 weeks until the end? Well, it depends on who you’re asking  - what preconceptions they have, what issues they have and/or will face, whether they believe anything is going to change.

3 weeks from the beginning – reflecting on what I’ve achieved

• Design Thinking bootcamp from Kenia and Nuria Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test. It’s been interesting to contrast this methodology with the scientific method that I am used to applying in my degree and also in my Laidlaw research last year, and considering which would be more effective for approaching different problems
• Working with my team (Hannah Ko, Hannah Wong and Bella Lam) to create resources for promoting Huerto Roma Verde’s Pacto con la Tierra and putting my Design Thinking training into practice – design isn’t a straight line; it’s a process of divergent and then convergent thinking
• Visiting the recycling plant at Rennueva where other scholars are working. I was particularly impressed by how the workers were able to separate different plastics simply by looking at how they shine or hearing the sound they make when crushed. Thank you very much to Enrique for the tour!

 3 weeks until the end – what I’m looking forward to

• Continuing to work onsite at HRV with my wonderful team and executing our final deliverables
• Volunteering with planeteando to build their ‘shock factor’ database
• Visiting Teotihuacan pyramids
