At Picacho con Futuro, we hosted our final project, the community “Eco-Bazar.” We finished the mural with the kids, distributed out the sustainability pamphlets, and ran a trivia game based on those pamphlets. People who answered the questions correctly won baskets from the local farmers’ market, which also helped support local campesinos. Overall I was really happy with how the bazaar turned out, as I feel it brought people together and strengthened the community space and solidarity. I was also able to chat with and get to know the local women, who told me about their experiences, how they came across the organization, and how they are working to support other women who are new to the neighborhood.

Our final visit to Picacho was quite emotional for me, especially saying goodbye to the kids. I am still shocked at how fast the time went! We also had a farewell party with the make_sense team, which was so bittersweet. I’ll miss Dani and Sam and my fellow scholars so much, who I became such close friends with. I am so grateful for each memory and laugh we shared, and I can’t wait to reunite in the future.
