LiA Week 5: Gear for Growth
Following the successful collection of second-hand clothes and stationery items from secondary schools across Hong Kong, our team undertook the task of sorting through the donated clothes to ensure their quality and suitability for redistribution, while Dream Compassioneers took the stationeries.
The sorting process involved meticulously examining each item to remove any unusable or damaged pieces, ensuring that only items in good condition were selected for donation. This attention to detail was essential to uphold the dignity of the recipients and ensure that they received items that met their practical needs.
After sorting through the donations, we consolidated the selected clothing items into approximately four bags, each holding around 25 kilograms of clothing. These bags represented the collective generosity and goodwill of the students, teachers, and community members who contributed to the donation drive.

Subsequently, we arranged for the delivery of these bags of clothing to the Refugee Union of Hong Kong, where they would be distributed to individuals and families in need within the refugee community. By directing our donations to those facing displacement and hardship, we aimed to provide practical support and comfort to vulnerable populations while fostering a sense of solidarity and compassion within the broader community.
The act of donating these second-hand clothes symbolised our shared commitment to addressing social inequalities, promoting sustainable practices, and extending a helping hand to those in need. It underscored the transformative impact that collective action and altruism can have in creating a more inclusive and supportive society for all individuals. Our efforts in Week 5 served as a testament to the power of community collaboration and the importance of empathy and compassion in driving positive social change.
