This week was my favourite week thus far in Mexico City. It was filled with hard work and exploring.
My team of scholars worked hard on our project, advancing with the chat bot and its supporting resources. I was very proud of our work ethic and resilience, when we discovered the Genera Territorios organisation wanted some changes to our project. The resilience of our team also came with support, helping each other with our tasks and motivating each other.
During this week, Genera Territorios gave a presentation to the entire Laidlaw group, and it was interesting to find out more about their work. A highlight was a taste test of many types of honey!
On Friday, my team and I visited the area of Iztapalapa in CDMX, where we led a workshop to 30 people in the community about organising their financial savings, and recognising their other valuable resources. The workshop was definitely a challenge, conducting the 3 hour workshop, meeting the community, and having a tour of the area and community centre, all in Spanish. However, it was an invaluable experience to meet the people who will directly benefit from my project. Everyone was so lovely and welcoming, and I appreciated their patience with my limited Spanish proficiency. The workshop and meeting so many kind people has given me motivation for the final push of finishing the project.
This week has been made by time with my Laidlaw friends exploring Mexico; it has been great to explore more of Mexico and its culture. We spent last weekend visiting the nearby city of Puebla, which was beautiful. Later in the week, we travelled to Las Estacas, which is a national park in the state of Morelos in Mexico. A night spent glamping, and a day filled with swimming, chilling, and swinging from trees was so fun, and something I will never forget (especially not the sunburn I suffered). This week also involved spectating Lucha Libre, a professional wrestling match.
I can’t believe there are less than 2 weeks left of LiA. I will try to make the most of my time with the project and in the city my friends.

Hello! My name is Annie, and I am a second year undergraduate student at the University of Cambridge, studying Geography.
My research project is titled ‘Scroll, Share, Speak: Examining Generational Engagement with Feminist Content on Social Media’. My project investigated the engagement patterns of self-identified women in the UK with feminist-related content on social media. The investigation examined how often different generations engage with digital feminist content, and the type of content and platforms they find most appealing. I explored how social media has influenced the way feminism is expressed and perceived, particularly in terms of its effectiveness in driving real-world change and shaping more inclusive forms of engagement.
In my spare time, I love to spend time with my friends and family, go on walks, and play netball.
