The absolute unique farm experience this week is definitely... get stung by a bee! Perhaps because the beekeepers were inspecting the artificial beehive, the bees were quite aggressive and defensive that day. One bee climbed into one of my nostril. Of course, I was scared and had to heavily sneeze it out. Then, the frantic bee stung me above my lips. Day 0 was fine, but the following day was clearly not. Fyi, my lips swelled like this:
And here's the queen of the bee colony that the beekeepers were inspecting:
Except for the bees drama, I also attended my first cycling event: BSTRONG! It’s a charity event fundraising for cancer.
Although choosing the hardest category of 109km with 1500m elevation, I started an hour late (uber issues…) so that the SAG had to pull me to where the main crowd is. This, fortunately or unfortunately, made me skip 20km of ride with ~700m climb, significantly making the experience easier. Hence the straight line on the map. Probably I’d want to re-do this ride properly another day.
The aid stations, road side volunteers, medical and SAG support are absolutely incredible. Riders are also so nice (good balance of gender too, which surprised me) and truly says something about Boulder’s cycling vibes. This definitely makes me want to consider getting a PhD in CU Boulder (fingers crossed I’ll be admitted) on top of attending more cycling events!!
