My day at work starts around 10 am when I get to the office. Each day can look a little different. Sometimes I am meeting with clients, but most of the time I am sitting in our open cubicles working on filling out applications, translating notes or documents, or doing legal research. A couple of weeks ago, I was given a task to complete a Country Conditions Report about Afghanistan. All together, with all the sources attached, it ended up being an 840-page document. This was such an interesting task, I learned a lot about the previous government and US-Afghanistan relationships. As a human rights major, it has sparked a possible topic for my senior thesis, maybe involving studying the persecution by the Taliban or other organized crime groups. My work has not narrowed, it has probably expanded, especially as the current immigration system is changing so rapidly. I usually take lunch anywhere from 12 to 2 pm with my intern cohort, and end my day at around 6 pm! Here is a picture of my intern cohort and I at the office.
