This week saw us begin to put our various plans into action. We visited La Caqueta market for the first time and roamed the stalls looking for different fruits and vegetables within our price range. We also met with the artisan mothers to conduct a stock inventory and discuss the hostel's proposal of hosting a craft fair to formally launch the selling of their products in the hostel itself. We spoke with them about price ranges, marketing visuals and general organisational logistics. Having decided we would partner with our fellow scholars Phoebe and Tarika, who were working with another organisation called Killa, we began designing our event poster and flyers. We also began working on a more general brochure explaining the Shipibo-Konibo Kene technique and the cultural history behind their craftmanship.

This week was fairly busy and required long hours working with the other members of my team. At times stressful, we were faced with tight deadlines and the feeling of having taken on perhaps more responsibility than we had prepared for. However, visiting the Comunidad team and the mothers in Cantagallo this week went a long way toward assuaging our fears.  They were all very excited about the fair and working with the children on their sports day also helped to inject some energy into our proceedings.

Counting down the days until the fair, we spent a lot of time looking back over our budget, preparing the space and meeting with various people to organise the food and looking at different ways to drum up interest in the event. We ended the week tired but feeling positive about what learning experiences we would take away from what would hopefully be the first of many fairs.
