Happy International Women's Day! Although every day is a perfect day to celebrate women, the 8th of March encourages us to unite internationally and actively participate in honouring women's achievements and demanding gender equality for all around the world.

This year's theme is #ChooseToChallenge - today, "raise your hand high to show you're in and that you commit to choose to challenge and call out inequality."

We asked some of our extraordinary Women in Business Laidlaw Scholars at London Business School to tell us about inspirational quotes that motivate them to shape a more equal future. Comment below with one of your own!

International Women's Day 2021 Inspirational Quotes - Maya Angelou: "Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."

We are all works in progress and will always be learning and growing. This quote reminds me to continually strive to be the best version of myself, to think bigger than myself, and that it is not the end goal/outcome that is important but the journey itself. Enjoy the journey.

International Women's Day 2021 Inspirational Quotes - Nelson Mandela: "Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again."

This quote reminds me of the importance of remembering that success is not the only thing (and not even the most important thing) that defines you but rather how resilient you are when faced with adversity. That is true success.

International Women's Day 2021 Inspirational Quotes - Sheryl Sandberg: "We hold ourselves back in ways both big and small, by lacking self-confidence, by not raising our hands, and by pulling back when we should be leaning in."

International Women's Day 2021 - London Business School Laidlaw Scholar J. C. HoJ.C. Ho

When I was starting out, I found it hard to speak my mind in a room full of colleagues. Part of it was due to a lack of experience and not being able to decipher the discussion and contribute; part of it was due to self-inflicted imposter syndrome, thinking that my contribution would not be worthwhile or validated. Now that I am more mature and experienced, I see the past as a rite of passage, and I am in a much better position and headspace to speak up in a meeting if I want to.

International Women's Day 2021 Inspirational Quotes - Clayton M. Christensen: "Decide what you stand for. And then stand for it all the time.”

It is so simple and true, yet so tough to stick to it. As responsible leaders, it requires commitment to stick to our values every single day.

International Women's Day 2021 Inspirational Quotes - Priyanka Chopra: "Be the CEO the world wants you to marry (and then marry someone you actually like)!"

International Women's Day 2021 - London Business School Laidlaw Scholar Rushil WaliaRushil Walia

This quote inspires me because I come from a place where women are expected to give up their careers to take care of their families while their husbands work. My takeaway from this is to never give up on dreams and career aspirations and don’t let anybody else dictate your role.
