I am conducting a research project that explores the relationship between AI use and psychological wellbeing in young men. I would really appreciate support from the Laidlaw community. To help you can complete a short 10 minute survey if eligible, or by sharing this with someone else who might be. 

I am looking for participants who: 

  • Identify as male 
  • Are aged between 18 - 25 
  • Live/are from the UK 

Taking part involves one anonymous survey which should take around 10 minutes to complete. Upon completion you also have the chance to win one of 15 x £20 vouchers! 

This research seeks to better understand how young men engage with AI and how this may relate to aspects of their mental health and social lives. Your participation will help contribute to this important area of research.

Hi! My name is Judit, and I'm a second-year History and Politics student at Durham University. This summer, I am excited to embark on my research project: an investigation of how young adults use AI for emotional support and companionship. 

Like many students, I have witnessed the widespread integration of AI into young people's lives. Yet, there is a lack of AI safety initiatives that address this increase and, in particular, the growing use of AI to meet emotional needs. By conducting a large online survey, my project aims to inform policymakers on the use, causes, and consequences of AI emotional support.

I am really looking forward to starting this research and all the accompanying opportunities as a Laidlaw scholar. Stay tuned for updates!
