Thinking about events, marketing, community building, sales or the performing arts as a career? Then this internship will give you a rare opportunity to build your skills, CV and connections.
The sister charity to the Laidlaw Foundation, Laidlaw Opera Trust, has just launched its inaugural Business of Opera Summit. Thanks to the fabulous @Joe Linogao who built the event site, the summit is off to a great start. We are looking to hire a Laidlaw graduate intern to join Kate Roberts the Event Director and Tembo our marketing agency to manage the website, handle customer communications, help liaise with speakers (the biggest players and influencers in opera) and vendors, build the invite list and set up commercial partnerships. You will need to be:
- interested in arts and culture (but not necessarily an expert)
- passionate about the right to cultural capital
- genuinely eager to help people and ensure they have a great experience
- a self starter who shows initiative and is good at getting on with things
- highly productive and a multi-tasker
- a charming communicator and enthusiastic writer
- great at spreadsheets, project management, attention to detail and leaving nothing to chance
- a team player
- in our London office 2 days a week minimum (working remotely the other days)
- happy to check your ego at the door
- and ready to turn your hand to whatever is needed.
It will probably help if you like ambiguity and are energised by a certain amount of chaos and constant change too! In return, you will receive a masterclass in events marketing, sales, customer service and operations; quite literally help shape the future of opera and be paid a pro-rated annual salary of £25k plus a commission on any commercial partnerships you land. If you are interested in applying send your CV (or LinkedIn profile if it is up to date) and a cover note explaining why we should hire you to Susanna.kempe@laidlawfoundation.com. This opportunity will be available to Laidlaw Scholars only until June 12th, after which if we have not filled the role we will open it up to all candidates. Look forward to hearing from you :)
