- What are some of the ethical issues that you are grappling with in your research? What are some of the ways in which you are responding to these questions?
Originally, I was hoping to add a qualitative component to my research by conducting interviews. However, I was told by my professor that that would not be very feasible because of the IRB and the ethical components of that. Separately, I now want to make sure that I do not have any prejudices in how I choose to analyze the data. While there will always be prejudices in how we analyze data, I want to work to minimize it as much as I can.
- As you continue your research, have you considered alternative viewpoints in your investigation? If so, how have these alternative viewpoints enriched or changed your project?
Yes! I have made a point of talking with other people about my project and asking them what they think about certain components of it, what they would expect the data to lead to, etc. This has helped to expand my perspective and expose me to different schools of thought.
