Field Journal, Week 1
- How have the workshops and discussions on leadership this week changed your understanding of what leadership means?
The main takeaways that I received from the workshops and discussions this week were the significance of understanding different leadership styles and personality types. By understanding how you yourself as well as other people lead differently and approach group settings differently, you can understand how personal strengths can be employed and weaknesses can be worked on.
- How might you imagine applying one of the four ways of leading during your summer on campus?
I imagine applying the leading from within style during my summer on campus as I feel that this is one of my weakest areas currently. By gaining more control over how I think about challenges as well as seeing issues in a more level-headed manner, rather than perseverating on irrelevant information, I think that I can tackle leading from within.
- What is everyone most excited about engaging in as part of their summer research project?
I am most excited to explore new questions and interests as a part of my summer research project. I believe that this research project will reveal how we can develop more efficient and effective water purification systems, and reuse resources which will thereby reduce stress on an ever-growing resource-stressed world.
