Continuing My Research
I am very excited about the survey responses we collected during my six weeks of the Laidlaw program. Throughout the rest of the summer, I plan to analyze survey responses by comparing questions against each other to determine if there are contradictions within the data. We are using the survey responses to conduct network analysis to see how networks either strengthened or broke down when introduced to increased surveillance measures. In the future, we hope to conduct more surveys among students at Columbia and Barnard, as well as throughout the other boroughs. I am excited to see how my research develops!
I am a computer science and sociology student at Barnard College. I am particularly interested in the intersection of these subjects, researching how surveillance technologies affect specific communities throughout New York City. I want to explore the ways that surveillance technologies affect community members' perceptions of safety, trust, and belonging.
