Bringing the Law and People's Experiences Together: LiA Reflection 3
Dear All,
I can't believe I'm officially halfway through! It's gone by very quickly.
This week has definitely been a tougher week. I think that comes down to 1. Overcommitting myself, and 2. Not being entirely clear on what each task I needed to complete was. Even though I'm a bit disappointed because I didn't achieve my goal for the week (project management), I learnt bigger leadership lessons, for example, about asking for help or clarification, being more mindful about what I am able to do, and how to manage my time. Now I can put these lessons into practice throughout the rest of my LiA.
Besides this, I've really enjoyed being able to do some more shadowing. Since both of advocacy visits I shadowed on this week related to different parts of the law, I've had some different takeaways compared to last week. These include thoughts about adaptability, reassurance, and clarity of communication, all of which I would like to incorporate into my leadership approach. Just like last week, however, these experiences also highlighted the importance of leadership being working with people, rather than for them.
I've been surprised by how much I've enjoyed exploring the Safeguarding aspect of advocacy. I expected that I would find this area quite emotionally challenging, however, it's felt more like an opportunity to hold people to account and protect vulnerable people.
Rather than setting a new leadership goal for next week, I'm instead going to refocus on the one for week 3.
Next week is looking exciting with more shadowing opportunities and dedicated project time, and also more buses!
Best wishes,
Cornelia
