Research Essay - Beyond Holism and Otherness: On the Metaphysical Basis for Environmentalism

This essay interrogates the anthropocentric paradigm in Western thought, surveys the two main traditions in environmental philosophy ('holism' and 'otherness'), and sketches, as a new direction, a 'complexity-based' account of the value of Nature which incorporates elements of both.
