With fellow Laidlaw Scholar Abby Donaghue, I traveled to Dublin, Ireland this summer to organize arts programming for the nonprofit Youth Work Ireland's Dublin Pride celebrations. I was incredibly privileged and honored to work with queer Irish artists who displayed their art during our event, and created murals depicting butterfly wings in the colors of multiple pride flags. We had over 700 youth attend these festivities, and watched them partake in all forms of art: from dancing and singing with a DJ, to getting their face painted in personalized pride colors, to adding their words and art to our #ProudToBe Wall. Abby and I both learned so much about what responsible, inclusive, and representative leadership looks like, and are so thankful to Laidlaw, Tufts, and Youth Work Ireland for the experience!
