Educational resource for Inside-Out

This was the educational resource I created for use by the Durham Inside-Out Project, as part of my 2022 summer research for my Laidlaw Scholarship. It consists of 9 carefully selected poems, and guided reading and discussion questions, suitable for both self-guided learning and group work.

This was by far the most exciting, challenging, thought-provoking and difficult aspect of my work during my research period. In particular, as I was no longer able to access prisons or Inside-Out's work first-hand, I made extensive use of the experiences and wisdom of my supervisors, both of whom had extensive practical experience in facilitating learning and enrichment activities behind bars. Although the work has been created specifically for the context of Inside-Out, I hope that a broader audience - and particularly those who do not belong to the discipline of English Literature studies - will be able to gain fulfilment and enjoyment from the resource as well.
