Do Volunteers Represent the Full Population? Volunteer Bias in Clickstream-Based Learning Analytics.

Educational research relies on volunteers, so models and conclusions drawn from them may not generalize to the wider student population. This study uses anonymized non-volunteer data to determine whether selection bias exists, quantify its impact, and characterize how it manifests.
