Bacterial contamination in foods remains a major problem in today's fast-paced world. Conventional methods of bacterial detection often lack practicality as they are time consuming and not very precise. Over the course of two months, I worked with a group at EPFL's LQNO attempting to employ Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS), a physical phenomenon, to revolutionize the procedure of detecting bacterial contamination, specifically within food supply chains.

Our objective is to develop a prototype of a portable device equipped with cutting-edge technology, enabling rapid, accurate, and reproducible testing for bacterial contamination in food samples.
