Week 5 LIA Reflection

Owning up to one's mistakes. Set good foundation for effective communication.

WEEK 5

What went well?

The progress I made; what was achieved and done

Edited the VR videos, held a workshop at the Woopie Club Elderly Day Care Centre and visited some elderly people (in-person or otherwise).

What could have been done differently?

Things that did not get done and/or could be changed

Could be more expeditious when it comes to video editing. Should have devoted more time to the elderly people.

What did I learn about myself when working with others?

Contributions, behaviours and values I exhibited

Empathy in the sense that I was more equipped in thinking in other’s shoes because I originally thought that it would be an easy task when it comes to video editing but out of my own expectation it is the most time-consuming work. Made me to reflect that one should not blame others without understanding other’s difficulty.

What did I learn about leadership?

Leadership attributes and insights I developed

Communication is the key that communication sets a good foundation for work to be done. Without good communication there would be so many “I thought” and “he thought” and ultimately it would be more time consuming and relationships built would be adversely affected. Should openly admit one’s mistakes to provide a foundation for good communication even if you thought you have done something wrong and you feel like you do not want others know about them.

What do I want to develop or focus on next?

What I still need to develop

Admission of mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes at some points of time but then we tend to cover up our mistakes instead of owning up to them. Non-admission of mistakes and the covering up of them would lead to disastrous results.
