What went well?
The progress I made; what was achieved and done
This week I continued working on the “Welcome Survey” project on the 2023 cohort using Excel. One skill I definitely learned throughout my work with WRI was how to use Excel efficiently and effectively which I’ll definitely be able to carry through. Another key task for this week was putting together a compelling format for my three presentations. I also attended the Land Accelerator cohort sessions and created notes for the entrepreneurs for their reference later.
What could have been done differently?
Things that did not get done and/or could be changed
I didn’t get as far as I wanted to with my equity project. One of my tasks this week was to research how “locally led” projects is defined. WRI wants to fund projects that are led by people on the ground rather than organizations based abroad. I hoped to be able to nail down a solid definition, but defining ‘local’ was harder than I imagined. The task did help me to think about the importance of projects led by people who live in the area / or are from the area, rather than quick drop-in projects.
What did I learn about myself when working with others?
Contributions, behaviours and values I exhibited
I think an important skill I learned this week was how important is for me to talk to my team members to bounce ideas off of and strategize projects. While I appreciate working alone and focusing in on a project individually, I definitely need to have a strong team around me to talk through questions with.
What did I learn about leadership?
Leadership attributes and insights I developed
An important skill of a leader is the ability to continually learn and process new information. This was a key skill for this week, particularly in my research of how ‘local’ projects should be defined.
What do I want to develop or focus on next?
What I still need to develop
The last week will be about finishing up the projects and putting together the loose ends for my final presentation.
