Hello everyone!
This was my last week as an intern for Mariame Kaba and Sojourners for Justice Press imprint. I feel so incredibly grateful for these past six weeks and all that I have learned. I am so excited to continue applying the skills I have created and those I have honed doing this work. Over the last month and a half, I have spent a lot of time -- usually at the urging of others in response to the question "what are you going to do with that? (that in question being my major, Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies) -- thinking about what I could be interested in after I graduate in the Spring of 2027, which is next year!!
At first, the question did trigger some mini-crisis of time, worth, and potential within me because I never had an answer for it. I have been mostly concerned with learning in my classes, completing grad requirements and graduating! But this time in my LiA has created a new space within myself that I am excited to explore further this year and that is archival work. I am interested in continuing to find the intersections between my research and academic interest and archive, especially as I begin to craft my thesis. I want to continue using archival practices beyond my time at Barnard and my work with Mariame and SJP has allowed me to expand the possibilities of how I can use archival work professionally and all that is out there for me to explore.
I am super excited and grateful to be able to have the space, time, and money to have done this work over the summer with the support of Barnard and Laidlaw. I am excited for how my LiA experience expands into my work going forward.
