LiA Week 5: make_sense in Mexico City

Some thoughts before the big day.

As we gear up for our event, everything is set—refreshments, souvenirs, activities, and the agenda are ready. But there is a lingering worry in the air. Will the people who said they were coming show up on time? It is a common concern for us --- the fear of an empty room contrasting with the excitement of a bustling crowd. Mixed feelings fill the air as we approach the big day. We have put in a lot of hard work in the past few weeks to make this event happen, and we hope it goes well. Luckily, we have a small yet committed team of volunteers that will be there for us; and of course, the supportive make_sense team.

I look forward to some relaxation and free time after our final deliverable, which will unfortunately mark the start of my last weekend in Mexico City. I am excited about a trip to the pyramids with the founders of our partner organization, who kindly offered to drive us there. Leaving in about a week has been on my mind --- many unexplored corners, untasted flavours, and unshared moments! The to-do list, though dwindling, still looms large, a reminder of the fleeting time. While I am quite worried I will not have time to check everything off my to-do list, I hope to seize every opportunity and make the most of the dwindling days ahead. The countdown begins and with it, the resolve to embrace the journey, uncertainties and all.
