This week I continued the second part of my LiA at Community of Hope, D.C.
What went well: I worked on updating Community of Hope's family care plan materials, which help new parents with the basics of caring for their newborn and themselves. These materials are uniquely necessary in underserved parts of D.C. where there is less access to things like early childhood healthcare.
What could have been done differently: I could have incorporated more new information instead of relying so heavily on the old family care plan, but I was nervous about providing incorrect information to new parents.
What did I learn about myself when working with others: I work best when working alongside others, rather than working solo when given a directive.
What did I learn about leadership: Being a leader means going out on a limb sometimes to innovate; I could have been a better leader and been more creative with the new family care plan.
What do I want to focus on developing next: My ability as a leader to be less scared to put my ideas out there and accept that sometimes I might make mistakes when implementing new ideas.
