LiA - Week 5

There have been two main people who have helped me along with my project the most. First, Samantha who works as a psychologist for the team and is largely responsible for driving the psychological and behavioral approach to improving lung cancer screening was very influential for my understanding of screening and patient behavior. One thing that really has stuck with me from our conversations is the capability, opportunity, and motivation framework which she used to describe why patients may not show up for screening. Specifically, it made me think a lot more about how many factors there are that may influence screening adherence. We also just had a very interesting conversation about some other topics such as smoking cessation and her options on how vaping/e-cigarettes may help or be damaging in that regard and why might people not seem to be invested in their own health. Second, Monica has been really helpful for understanding how to navigate the boundaries of the SUMMIT project and how I might best understand adherence in the context of the project. This has been very crucial so that I can understand how to design curriculum and other methods to accurately address the core of the issue.
