After learning last week that keeping teenagers engaged in a classroom for a full session is a real challenge, I changed things up. I made the lessons more interactive and even took students out for a walk to the Orłowo pier, talking about the Baltic as we went. The highlight of the week was a Baltic hackathon workshop where students designed their own environmental initiatives. Hearing ideas from art students was something else entirely: one group pitched an environmental fashion show, another proposed a travelling exhibition showing how the Baltic's condition has changed over decades, displayed across art schools all over Poland. These were not ideas I would have come up with, and that is exactly the point. The best moments this week were the ones where I stopped teaching and just listened.
LiA Week 4 - Taking the Lesson Outside
Halfway through my LiA - this week the Baltic Sea stopped being a topic on a slide and became the actual backdrop.
