When talking to the members of Who is Hussain Hong Kong, who is frequently involved with refugees, I was told that the problem of clothing was brought up to one of our members by a refugee. Hence, In Week 4 of my involvement with Who is Hussain in Hong Kong, we embarked on a collaborative effort with Dream Compassioneers, a local NGO dedicated to promoting education equity, to facilitate a donation drive for second-hand clothes and stationery items. This initiative aimed to support underprivileged students in the community by collecting essential supplies from secondary schools across Hong Kong. This event served to fulfill the theme helping those in need.
Our partnership with Dream Compassioneer allowed us to leverage their expertise in community outreach, enabling us to maximise the impact of our donation drive. Throughout the week, we worked closely with both the schools and Dream Compassioneer to coordinate logistics, including arranging collection boxes, finalising details, and ensuring a smooth process for gathering donations.
By engaging with secondary schools in Hong Kong, we sought to raise awareness among students about the importance of giving back to those in need and fostering a culture of generosity and empathy within the educational community. The collection of second-hand clothes and stationery items not only provided practical support to disadvantaged students but also symbolised a shared commitment to educational empowerment and social justice.
As we progressed through Week 4 and coordinated the logistics of the donation drive, we were reminded of the transformative potential of collaboration and the importance of working together towards a common goal. This initiative underscored our shared dedication to making a difference in the lives of others and reinforced our commitment to creating a more equitable and inclusive society for all.
