What went well?
The progress I made; what was achieved and done
This week covered more dense content than the first week's curriculum, but I think I was able to successfully engage the students despite the content being more intense. Specifically, it was amazing to have dynamic discussions surrounding different socio-political issues including voting rights. This enabled the students to learn from each other's perspectives, and me to learn from them as well.
What could have been done differently?
Things that did not get done and/or could be changed
Once again, I think I need to get better at redirecting the class in the face of disruptions. While I think I improved from last week there is still progress to be made in terms of balancing discipline and covering the class content.
What did I learn about myself when working with others?
Contributions, behaviours and values I exhibited
I learned more about how I work well in a team and collaborate with my partner teacher. My department faculty has also formed a good support system for one another, so I learned about how I interact in that group setting.
What did I learn about leadership?
Leadership attributes and insights I developed
I learned being an effective leader can include maintaining calm and a strong sense of patience when confronted with an obstacle. This is something I try to embody when teaching.
What do I want to develop or focus on next?
What I still need to develop
As I mentioned above, I would like to focus on improving my methods for classroom behavior management next week so that we can get through lessons with minimal disruptions. This will also include developing strategies for responding to interruptions with my partner teacher.
