LiA Week 3

At my work, there really is no typical day at the office! Each day the students gather in the main meeting space called the Shala to start the day with an energizer activity that gets their blood moving and wakes them up. Then they have their morning activity which can be any sorts of activities but we have done kite-making or weaving that are led in a traditional Balinese style. Then the students participate in artistic activities like painting and clay-making. The entire school is outside which means that the students are constantly interacting with nature and interacting with the elements. In the beautiful Bali weather, it makes it a lot of fun to spend time in the sun and looking out over the rice fields.

Since the beginning of the project, I initially thought that I would be focusing entirely on youth literacy and Latin, but I have had to adapt to the unique needs of the school focusing on leading visual arts classes and supporting the staff in other ways that they might need it which has been equally rewarding.
