LiA Reflection - Week 3

Week 3 at TSN has been a whirlwind of activity and learning. This week was marked by the completion of our Python coding lessons, a deep dive into 3D modeling on Fusion 360, and the exciting beginning of our work with Arduino. Additionally, the week was highlighted by an inspiring field trip to a museum and a robotics company on Friday.

This week, we wrapped up the Python coding portion of our curriculum. It was rewarding to see the students' progress and their increased confidence in their coding abilities. The culmination of the Python lessons marked a significant milestone in their learning journey, and their enthusiasm was palpable. The final coding projects showcased their newfound skills and creativity, demonstrating their ability to apply programming concepts to solve real-world problems.

Following the completion of Python coding, we transitioned into 3D modeling using Fusion 360. This phase of the program was particularly engaging as it allowed the students to visualize and create tangible designs. The hands-on experience with Fusion 360 enabled the students to explore the intricacies of 3D modeling, enhancing their understanding of design concepts and technical skills. It was fascinating to witness their designs evolve from simple shapes to more complex models, reflecting their growing proficiency with the software.

This week also marked the beginning of our work with Arduino. The students were introduced to the basics of Arduino, including its components, functionalities, and potential applications. The excitement in the room was evident as they started working on their first Arduino projects. The combination of coding and physical computing opened up new avenues for creativity and innovation. The students were eager to explore the possibilities of integrating Arduino into their prototype designs.

Throughout the week, we engaged in discussions with the students about their prototypes. These discussions were crucial in helping the students refine their ideas and consider practical aspects of their designs. It was inspiring to see the diversity of their projects and the innovative solutions they proposed. The feedback sessions provided valuable insights and helped the students think critically about the feasibility, functionality, and impact of their prototypes.

The week concluded with an enriching field trip to a museum and a robotics company. The museum visit provided the students with an immersive experience of technological advancements. The visit to the robotics company was particularly inspiring. The students observed cutting-edge robotics technology in action and interacted with a professiona in the field. They worked in groups to write their own code to complete various robotics motion challenges. This experience broadened their understanding of the practical applications of their studies and fueled their aspirations.

Week 3 was a period of significant personal and professional growth. Assisting the students with their 3D modeling and Arduino projects allowed me to further develop my technical skills and teaching abilities. The field trip also provided a valuable opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, reinforcing the importance of experiential learning.

One of the main challenges this week was ensuring that each student received adequate support and guidance, especially as they transitioned between different stages of the program. Balancing the various aspects of the curriculum and maintaining a cohesive learning experience required careful planning and flexibility. However, the collaborative efforts of the teaching team and the students' enthusiasm made it possible to overcome these obstacles.

Week 3 has been an exhilarating blend of learning, creativity, and real-world exploration. As we move forward, I am excited to continue supporting the students in their prototype development and Arduino projects. The upcoming weeks will be crucial in refining their designs and preparing for the final presentations. I look forward to seeing the innovative solutions they will bring to life and the impact they will make.
