LiA project--week 3 review

What went well?

The progress I made; what was achieved and done

This week, I continued to engage in planning the workshop arrangement and creating promotional videos for our meditation services. Although I have limited experience in video production, I dedicated time to researching existing videos to identify effective features that convey information in an informative and engaging manner. After thorough discussions, we finalized the content for several videos and decided on the appropriate video effects to enhance the coherence of the content.

What could have been done differently?

Things that did not get done and/or could be changed

In the beginning, I attempted to devise the video content and flow solely based on my own ideas and perspective. However, later on, I realized that using templates and searching for sample videos could significantly save time and offer valuable insights to enhance the video's quality and structure. I also realized that collaborative brainstorming can greatly help widen my mind as inviting team members to participate in brainstorming ideas brought diverse perspectives and innovative ideas to the table.

What did I learn about myself when working with others?

Contributions, behaviours and values I exhibited

When working with others, I learned that I am actually more capable of learning new knowledge and skills. Despite encountering tasks and responsibilities that I had little prior experience with, I approached them with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. This allowed me to quickly grasp the concepts and techniques needed for doing the work assigned to me, and enabled me to handle the work effectively.

What did I learn about leadership?

Leadership attributes and insights I developed

Again, I learned that leadership is about the ability to solve problems independently even in completely new areas that I haven’t touched upon. With a shortage of people within the team to help me with the video-making, the main responsibility of finishing the work assigned on time and overseeing the quality of work will nonetheless fall on the group leader. Therefore, taking up the role of group leader entails more than just the title, but also involves taking the relevant responsibilities when there are difficulties that other teammates struggled to solve.

What do I want to develop or focus on next?

What I still need to develop

I will continue with finalizing the promotional materials next week and have in-progress meetings with groupmates and NGO contacts, and may also start working on the details of a workshop to be conducted in August with another NGO to be collaborated with.
