My Leadership in Action experience was a continuation of my experience conducting research on sexual and reproductive health. Last summer, I had the opportunity to investigate marketing and communication strategies for long-term menstrual cup uptake for adolescent girls in rural India. This summer, I was able to investigate sexual and reproductive healthcare in a different context, focusing on promoting reproductive healthcare, specifically medicated abortion, in the United States. In the current political climate, where access to reproductive healthcare is being restricted all across the United States, telehealth medicated abortion providers are dealt with a unique problem: how can providers create adequate telehealth resources and support for medicated abortion that is helpful to clients across the United States, who are all navigating the process with varied access to in-person healthcare services and support? Over the course of the next few weeks, I am excited to discuss my reflections on my LiA experience and the knowledge I have gained throughout this past summer.
