LiA Blog 5 - Stepping into Advocacy

This week we began sharing our posters online and tracking engagement. The response was encouraging—people reached out with messages of support and curiosity. Yet advocacy also opened us to challenges, such as critical comments questioning why menstrual equity matters.

As a leader, I encouraged the team to see criticism not as failure but as opportunity: each question or challenge allows us to clarify our message and educate others. I modeled constructive engagement by drafting responses that were firm but respectful, and encouraged others to do the same.

This week, I grew in confidence as an advocate. I realized that leadership often requires stepping into the public space and absorbing both praise and critique. The impact of our project is becoming visible: we are sparking dialogue, reducing stigma, and showing that menstrual equity is a matter of dignity and justice.
