LiA Blog 4 - Designing for Advocacy

This week was dedicated to creativity: we began designing Instagram posters to communicate our findings. The challenge was distilling complex insights into visuals and messages that are accessible and engaging.

My leadership focus was on collaborative creativity. I facilitated brainstorming sessions where everyone could propose designs, but I also made sure we had criteria: clarity, sensitivity, and impact. Decision-making required diplomacy—sometimes combining elements from multiple drafts, other times gently suggesting we simplify.

I learned that leadership is not about having the “best idea” but about drawing out the strengths of each team member. I also saw how advocacy requires more than good intentions—it requires strategy, design, and communication skills. Our posters are shaping up to be powerful tools for raising awareness about menstrual equity in a platform young people engage with daily.
