I am delighted to be able to say that I have completed the research phase of my Laidlaw Scholarship at Trinity College Dublin!
My project looked at UAV flight path optimisaiton with a focus on communities. I wanted to explore the ways drones can fly over urban areas without being too intrusive to the people living near hubs and underneath flight paths. I have built a python noise propagation model to compare different routing strategies and delivery methods like microhubs. Over the course of the research, I have had the opportunity to speak with community groups, representatives, academics and industry experts along the way. I have learned a lot about the importance of different perspectives about the same thing, depending on where you stand and where you come from. This broadened my perspectives and has incentivized me to think about the communities and their different perspectives when it comes to making my own engineering designs, both today and in the future.
