- How have the workshops and discussions on leadership this week changed your understanding of what leadership means?
I found it fascinating to develop a guide for how to analyze leadership. As someone who has studied leadership in the past, it can seem like a very "fuzzy" and difficult to quantify thing. That is why having Ms Sohn break it down and explain the different characteristics of leadership --- such as from where you lead (behind, in front, next to) --- really helped me break down this very complicated subject. Whereas before I thought of leadership as something much more unquantifiable, I now see that it is much less "fuzzy" than I originally thought it was.
- How might you imagine applying one of the four ways of leading during your summer on campus?
For me, the biggest part of this would be having internal leadership. One thing that I have certainly struggled with is being consistent and dedicated to my goals. I think that it can be very difficult to get misguided and forget baout your internal compass, but that is also why I think it is so important to learn and practice following your internal compass --- or, in others words, being a self-leader. I think that this is certainly something that I can and will practice here, especially when reflecting.
- What is everyone most excited about engaging in as part of their summer research project?
I am most excited in getting down to the actual research. I am very optimistic about this research question and thing that it will uncover a lot of fascinating topics. I can't wait to see what the visualization looks like!
