This week, I continued to work collaboratively to design and create a background set for a puppet show aimed at teaching children about consent in an engaging and accessible way. This section of our project required us to turn an initial concept into a practical, visually engaging resource. Working closely with my team, we divided responsibilities, developed ideas, solved challenges along the way and maintained a strong focus on creating a finished product that would effectively support entertainment for our intended audience.
After considerable hard work and collaboration, we successfully completed the background and presented our final work to the MakeSense leaders. Receiving extremely positive feedback was particularly rewarding and demonstrated the value of combining creativity with effective teamwork and attention to detail.
The experience strengthened my ability to contribute to a team, manage a project from concept to completion, communicate ideas to stakeholders and respond constructively to feedback. It also reinforced the importance of understanding an audience and designing content that is both engaging and purposeful. In the coming week, we will be adapting our presentation to be used for our final pitch to Las Sabinas, in which we will highlight our process and demonstrate the value of our deliverables to their team. I have found it an engaging challenge presenting several times during my team here in Mexico, and it has been highly valuable in improving my confidence communicating concepts effectively.
Outside of work, one of the highlights of the week was a trip to Azteca Stadium to watch Club America vs. San Diego. I was joined by several other Laidlaw Scholars, and we were all amazed at the electric energy and community feel within the crowd. It was made even better by a win for Club America (Mexico City's team)! Other highlights of this week include watching a ballet, visiting Biblioteca Vasconcelos (a floating library), and exploring the National Art Museum. It has been such a blessing to have so much time to fully immerse myself in Mexican culture. It's so hard to believe there is only one week remaining here, but simultaneously I can't wait to see my family again and relax in the countryside. I'm sure they will get sick of all my stories of my time here!
