Building Climate Resilience through Cultural Heritage Governance: A Case Study on Flood Adaption in the Global South

An overview of the research project I will undertaking this summer under Dr Francesca Giliberto.

This project will contribute to research on global climate resilience by a case study on flood adaption in the Global South. Under the AGREE Project - 'Advancing Cultural Heritage Governance for Resilient Climate Adaption' - I will explore the relationship between climate change and community. I am especially interested in diversifying the technical focus of the climate conversation.

This summer, I will conduct qualitative research and data analysis to conduct this case study. Analysing heritage-based resilience strategies will allow me to investigate responses to the challenges brought about by climate change, specifically in terms of flood adaption.

I am passionate about ethical global developments and how as an international community we can support responses to climate change. From previous research into this topic through my module 'Contemporary Africas', I began my research into indigenous knowledge systems and have been eager to contribute to creating an intersection between heritage governance and climate science ever since.

I am incredibly excited to begin this research and very grateful for this opportunity. I hope to share more soon!
