Week 3
This is where the true project work began. Being part of a team focusing on the promotion of Cacalli, a startup focused on the recycling of dog waste, I have used various skills in unique and interesting ways, including design, organisation, and technology. From various trainings on volunteer management and design thinking, I have managed to reinterpret the process of content creation in a more holistic and community-focused way. On Friday, we travelled to the chocolate museum, where I learned more about the history of chocolate (or as the Aztecs would say, Xocolatl) and got to make some from scratch, just as the Mesoamericans would have. At the weekend, we managed to have a fantastic experience at Lucha Libre, traditional Mexican wrestling, as well as trying out some authentic Birria Tacos in a market (being serenaded by a Mariachi band in the process).
Week 4
Week four was very much a continuation of week three, following up on our project, more trainings, and creating more content. One exciting aspect was meeting with our volunteers, of which there are eighteen, who are all enthusiastic to help on our project with Cacalli. Our plan is in full motion, and I am excited to see how our social media posts and impact carnival stand is received by the public.
I have had another two great weeks here in Mexico, and am already dreading this experience being over.
