A Brief Summary

A reflection on the conclusion of my project, and the interrelatedness of the various opportunities from this summer.

As the summer concludes, I have taken some time to reflect on the opportunities and experiences I gained over the summer. From in-person data collection and coding, to my first steps of the Oxford Character Project, I have truly learned so much.

In relation to my project about the ‘Development of Empathic Responding in Preschoolers', I learned a great deal about both academic research, and specific psychological processes across the 8 weeks from my wonderful supervisor Zanna Clay, and am incredibly grateful for her support. My intention is to continue coding the data that wasn't used in my project, so that it can continue to have value for the overall project.

Throughout this research period, I endeavoured to embody the values that we (as a group) discussed as relating to a good leader and a good team-player, with Guy Richardson at the beginning of the summer. I believe that embodying these values positively influenced my project, as I was able to become more confident when conducting research and communicating with parents, adults, and the participants (preschoolers!).

I look forward to continuing with the program for the next year, with the London Conference quickly approaching, as well as the beginning of the Oxford Character Project sessions!
