Attending the Laidlaw Scholars Conference in New York was an incredibly inspiring and transformative experience for me as an undergraduate student. Being surrounded by passionate scholars from around the world, all driven by curiosity and a shared commitment to making a positive impact, was truly invigorating. While I did not present my research at the conference, I was deeply grateful for the opportunity to engage with other scholars, exchange ideas, and learn from their diverse perspectives and experiences.
The conversations I had with future research leaders from a variety of disciplines were particularly meaningful. Hearing their stories, understanding their approaches to tackling complex challenges, and reflecting on their innovative ideas broadened my own outlook and sparked new thoughts about my academic and leadership journey. The conference was not only a platform to connect with like-minded individuals but also a reminder of the power of collaboration and shared learning in driving meaningful change.
One of the most impactful aspects of the conference was its emphasis on curiosity and stepping beyond one’s comfort zone. This theme resonated deeply with me, as I realized the importance of embracing uncertainty and continuously pushing boundaries to grow both as a scholar and a leader. The experience has motivated me to remain open to new opportunities, ask thought-provoking questions, and strive for excellence in all that I do.
Participating in the Laidlaw Scholars Conference this November was truly unforgettable. It was a chance to be part of an inspiring global community, learn from extraordinary individuals, and reaffirm my commitment to making a difference through research and leadership. I left the conference feeling empowered, energized, and ready to take on new challenges with a renewed sense of purpose.
